Deadman
Been a while since the last post. I've been on vacation, and had nutty-ass deadlines with my freelance. Anyway, here's a Photoshop / Painter painting of DC Comic's Deadman, created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantin in 1967. I was blown away by Kelly Jones' drawings of the character in the early '90s. A few years later I finally discovered Berni Wrightson, and the Kelly Jones work seemed a little less special. Anyway.....Hopefuly I'll be posting more regularly.

Christmas in July
Since it's been so retard hot latey, I thought it'd be nice to post a snowy christmas piece. I did this illustration a while ago for Planet Moon Studio's PSP game "Infected". The top image is the final version that I like. The one the client liked (not posted) and used for marketing had a big red santa nose, his mouth was more closed and had big boots, as well as having less stylized porportions. I've also included the origianl sketch done with india ink, white out, an maybe some acrylic paint, but I don't even friggin' remember.

Mercenaries for Hire:
If you need to take care of some dirty work, but don't want to get your hands dirty- then you need "TRIPLE THREAT!!!!!" Mercs that show no mercy!!!!................................I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I was just trying to spice things up a bit, throw in a little pizzaz. I blew it, I really blew it. I though some sorta A-team spoof thing would be a huge hit, but I was wrong, oh so wrong. This post has turned in to a huge disaster. Just click on the image to get a closer look at the pretty monkey.

Steve Tuttleman
This sonofabitch is a game programer at a small video game developer. He's a wiz with code n' shit, but is socially retarded and doesn't realize it, or doesn't appear to realize it. He's an insecure guy in his everyday life, but when's he's at work he's the alpha geek. Steve is very good at what he does and loves being a condescending dickhead to those who work with him. He reads D&D books and "Hard Sci/Fi". He publicly dismisses the Harry Potter books, as "mildly interesting for kids" but internaly dreams of going to Hogwarts someday. I hope that someday Steve will touch a woman's breast. As anoying and creepy as Steve can be he's really just a sad guy who needs boobs in the face.

Rat Bones
Here's a self portait. Man I'm fat. As of this posting, I'm going on a diet, and bustin' out with some exercise. "Take a good look in the mirror" they say. Try taking a good lookin in the mirror and paint your mug, you'll discover things like- "holy shit, I'm a real fatty" or "my headphones are silly big".
Enough fat talk. The symbol behind my head is a blast from the past. It's a Powell Peralta logo for some skateboard wheels called "Rat Bones". Son of a bitch, me and my buddies used to draw that damn logo everywhere, on skateboards, ramps, bus seats, books, etc..... I went on the internet to look at some old skate deck graphics, and hot damn, I used to love that shit. I didn't realize it at the time but that stuff really inspired me artisticly. Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Steve Steadman, Rodney Mullin, these skate decks were the fuckin' shit. I never really wondered who the artists were that did the artwork on these decks when I was 11 or 12, but I've now discovered that a lot of these pieces where done by a guy who goes by VCJ or VJC (i found both orders of initials online). His stuff kind of reminds me comic book artist Brian Bolland, a little bit.......anyway if you know anything about any of these old school skate graphics dudes, let me know. I'd apreciate it. ZAMMY!!!!!!!!!!!

Who the F are these fellers?
These fellas are up to something. The problem is I don't know their names and I don't know what they're up to. Help me name these m-f-ers and come up with some sort of info about them. I'll try to find some time to do an illustration, comic strip or something involving these characters I'll post later. SHAZAM!!!!!!!

Savage Dragon
I used to dig on the Savage Dragon back in the day. I wasn't Shakespeare by any means, but it was obvious that Erik Larsen LOVED writing and drawing that comic. It was a fun read. I had such a good time doing this piece, I think I'm going to do more blasts from the past. Mutha fuckin' POW!!! POW!!!! POW!!!

Moo
Sometime in January of this year, on a clear day after a long night of rain, a co-worker of mine came across a cow that had washed up on shore by my work. I blasted off some shots of this bloated bovine for kicks. This event was the insparation for the illustration "The Harvest" that I posted previously on this blog. Mmmmmmmm........ hamburger.

James Bond Jr.
More 007 artwork........ I was asked to design some non playable characters (NPC's) for the "Istanbul" level of From Russia With Love. They were to be non threating city goers, and I figured that it'd be nice to have some characters who were younger than everyone else in the game so I came up with this fella. His sandals are based off of a crappy pair of brown sandals I was forced to wear when was 3 or 4. The art director and head character modeler dug the design, but due to budget restraints they couldn't build another skeleton for the game. This little guy never saw the light of day until now.

Octopus Evil Doers
Here are more characters I did for "From Russia With Love". These fine gentelmen are part of an evil organization known as OCTOPUS (not sure if that's what they ended being called in the game or not), created just for FRWL. They were supposed to be S.P.E.C.T.R.E. henchmen from the Bond films, but there was some sort of legal issue that prevented them from doing that. Anyway the guy on the left is a "Gun Soldier", the guy on the middle is the "Comander", and the fella on the right is a "Sniper". I've found that often times Character design for video games can be kind of funny ,mostly for secondary characters. A game designer or art director might tell you to "make him a soldier that fits within a certain time period with handguns, and a greandade strapped to his belt for the hero to shoot" and that's all you 've got to go on. So you've really got to fill in the blanks. Sometimes it feels like "cannon fodder design" instead of "character design" Cannon Fodder, or Character, I friggin' love drawing this crap. Love it..................... Devil horns!!!!!!!! Yeah!!

The Red Menace
This is a tough guy soviet soldier I designed last year for 007: From Russia with Love. Do to non-disclosure agreements and what not I havne not been able to show any of that work until now. So I'll sprikle in the occasional Bond stuff here and there. The art director on this game thought that the face (on the full figure) was a little too stylized. So he asked me to do a more "realistic face with a hat and to change the wife beater to a regular t-shirt for some computer geometry reason", so here's the revised mug and fruit of the loom tee.

The Harvest
After some recent storms, a cow washed up on the shores of San Rafael by my work. It was bloated, juicy and had a prolapsed uterus or something hanging out of it's vadge. The cow and it's vadge bag was surreal, beautiful, and nasty. It was the inspiration for this piece, and partial insperation for my first post, "Rebirth". POW!!!!!!
