Imagine FX Issue 51
Go out and buy Imagine FX Issue 51, out in the UK now, available in the U.S soon. Imagine FX is a pretty sweet art mag stuffed full of art-nerd goodness. This issue focuses on Character Design. It has tutorials and features artists like Dave Dorman, Antonio Caparo, and a 6 page article about yours truly. I'm stoked just to be asked to be in such a cool magazine. Check it out- POW!!!!!

Jimmy The Clown
Here's a portrait I painted of my buddy Ian "Jimmy" Ameling done in oil back when we were in art school together. Ah those were the days, back when clowns could smoke cigarettes and not be constantly harassed by the man. Found this image when I was looking in some old folders, just thought I'd share.

Captain Grab-Ass
This guy is nothin' but trouble, a real walking HR violation. I guess that's why he's known around the office as Captain Grab-Ass. And come on man..... no pants? Really? You're one hell of a workhorse, and that's why we keep you around, but sheesh. Put on some pants and keep your friggin' hands to yourself Cap.

Gor-Gon 5
I like you, but this guy doesn't. He's a bit of a jerk. His unsavory personality stems from his severe insecurities he developed as foster child constantly being moved from abusive "family" to abusive "family". Knowing that might help you understand him a little better, but it won't lesson the emotional kick to the crotch you'll feel when you find out he drop kicked your sweet doe eyed puppy off an overpass and onto the freeway.

Derek vs. Chupacabra
World renowned lady's man Dennis Cornetta suggested Derek and Creepy McCreeperson (now Chupacabra) throw down in a comment on a previous post. So here it is! Who will when this clash of the titans? The man with the ultimate beat stick? Or he who sucks goats?

I mean damn, have you seen this sweet ass beat stick I've been wielding around that past few days? I mean have any of you noticed? This thing is bad-ass and not one have you has said sh*t. It'd be nice to hear a-"hey Derek, sweet beat stick! Where'd you get it? ", but whatever. You nerds drink your coco crap. when you're not lookin'- WHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sacrifice!!!!! You're welcome Lizard-Snake-God-Guy. No problem, anytime. Oh this? It's just my beat stick. You do? Thanks! I think it's pretty bad-ass too.

More Bioshock 2 Concept Art
Final design for Big Sister.
Ceiling Crawler.
Final Concept for player's hand.
Early Big Sister Sketches.
Once again 2K Games has been kind enough to give me the go ahead to post some more of my concept work I did for Bioshock 2. Aside from getting the chance to work on such a great game I've also had the privilege of working with my wife on this project. Despite being pregnant throughout her stint on the project, keeping our household together and taking care of our "more than a handful" two year old, she's managed to do a lot of great character designs for the game. Here's a link to her blog where she's posted her Little Sister Design. Pretty much all the design work on the game that involved little sisters was done by her. She brought just the right sensitive feminine touch to these freaky little sweethearts.

Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams- Big Daddy Doll
Here's the first piece of Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams concept art to be released. 2K was kind enough to give me permission to post this on my blog for your viewing pleasure. This piece was a concept used for the teaser trailer that appeared at the end of Bioshock (PS3) and on an internet near you. Check it out- Bioshock 2 Trailer
Bioshock 2 has been the most fulfilling project I've worked on to date. Working on this game has been a dream job for me as an artist and the team is a joy to work with. I'll post more Bioshock 2 art when appropriate.

Sketchbook Post 53a
My sketchbook pages are more or less in a constant state of change. I just keep working on top of them until I'm satisfied with the image. I did this work directly on the pages from the last post. I used Sharpie Poster Paint, a Presto Correction Pen, Sharpies (black, red, orange, silver) , a white Gelly Roll pen, Higgins india ink, a Derwent Studio pencil, Crayola Crayons, Liquitex Matte Medium, a ball point pen, scotch tap, artist tape, and some other crap. This latest post is a done for now.........................
